Winner of numerous international competitions such as Bucharest, Florence, Trapani, Pörtschach in Austria, Douai or Guérande, Matthieu Lejeune regularly performs as a soloist, in duo (Duo Le Cann-Lejeune), within the Trio Una Corda, and in other prestigious formations (Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Multilatérale, Galliano Septet…). His concerts have taken him to Europe, the United States, Scandinavia, the Middle East and Africa. Passionate about encounters between the arts, he has created several shows mixing dance, theater and music, notably with the Arcal company (Ni l’un ni l’autre, Les Epoux). He has shared the stage with Alexandre Brussilovsky, Alexandre Tharaud, Eric-Maria Couturier, François Salque, Alain Brunier, Romano Pallottini, Sonia Wieder-Atherton. His discography includes several recordings for Maguelone, Naïve, Triton and Quantum.
After three years in the class of Roland Pidoux at the CNSM in Paris, he was unanimously awarded a First Prize in cello and chamber music, before entering the Advanced Cycle in these two disciplines. A Sasakawa Foundation laureate, he studied for two years in the internationally renowned class of Frans Helmerson at the Hochschule of Cologne, and obtained the Konzertexam diploma. He has also studied with other personalities of the musical world such as Lynn Harrell (Verbier Festival & Academy), Bernard Greenhouse, Daria Hovora, Maurice Bourgue, Alain Meunier, Jorge Chaminé, André Gorog, Arto Noras.
Matthieu Lejeune has always insisted on balancing his activity between interpretation and pedagogy. Holder of the Certificat d’Aptitude, he is currently a professor at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Saint-Maur-des-Fossés. He has also taught alongside Philippe Muller at the CRD of Aulnay-sous-Bois, and participates in several international academies. The departmental, regional and higher conservatories regularly invite him to their juries and many of his students have been admitted to the great European schools (CNSM of Paris, Lyon, HEM of Geneva, Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Hochschule of Cologne, Freiburg).
